Gumtree Australia has partnered with PayPal to offer PayPal Pay in 4 to its customers through their new payment platform called Gumtree Pay, giving Australians a more flexible way to shop.
Gumtree buyers can now choose PayPal Pay in 4 at checkout to split their payments into four fortnightly instalments – interest-free and with no late fees – making it easier to budget for bigger ticket items.
With current cost-of-living pressures, many Australians are buying pre-loved items. According to PayPal’s 2025 eCommerce Index, 64% of Australians buy second-hand items to save money. Most popular are books, DVDs, CDs, and vinyl (51%), furniture (45%), clothing and fashion (41%), homewares (31%), and collectibles (30%).
Gumtree is launching PayPal Pay in 4 at a time when 51% of Australian BNPL users say services like PayPal Pay in 4, help them better manage financial stress. The deal also aligns with growing consumer trends towards sustainable and economical shopping choices.
