PayPal has introduced Package Tracking for customers in Australia – a new feature to track deliveries through the PayPal app and receive live updates without needing to search through your inbox or visit courier websites.
Making tracking easier for shoppers
If it has a tracking number, we can help you track it – whether it’s something you ordered online or an in-store item scheduled for delivery, paid with or without PayPal. And the best part? You can track it all in one place: the PayPal app.
With Package Tracking, you can:
- Link your Gmail or Outlook accounts to the PayPal App to enable automatic tracking from shopping confirmation emails.
- Track packages manually by entering a tracking number and carrier.
- Monitor deliveries from major global retailers or small independent stores.
You can find the feature in the ‘Shop and save’ section of the PayPal app menu. Users can simply tap the Package Tracking banner to get started. Those who opt to link their Gmail or Outlook accounts will receive automatic updates, acting as a virtual shopping assistant to help manage multiple deliveries and stay informed through push notifications.
Andrew Toon, General Manager, Products and Payments, PayPal Australia says, “Package Tracking offers benefits for both consumers and businesses. Consumers get the convenience and peace of mind of having their package delivery information in one place, in an organised list with live updates. And by keeping customers informed throughout the delivery process, it helps merchants reduce enquiries and delivery-related disputes.
“It’s a real win-win, improving the overall shopping experience for consumers while allowing businesses to save time, build trust, and strengthen customer relationships - all at no additional cost.”
Not just for PayPal purchases
PayPal’s Package Tracking works with any valid tracking number – even for purchases not made with PayPal or for things you ship to other people.
Your tracked packages will be organised in a list with estimated arrival dates. You’ll also get notifications, so you never miss an update. Notifications are sent at key delivery stages: when the package is prepared, shipped, out for delivery, and when it has been delivered.
Supported by hundreds of courier services including FedEx, DHL, and UPS, the feature enhances visibility and peace of mind for online shoppers.
A value-add for merchants
Beyond its benefits to consumers, the new feature delivers significant advantages for merchants. By providing transparent, centralised tracking, the feature helps reduce “Item Not Received” (INR) disputes and lowers the volume of service enquiries.
Already adopted by over 40,000 merchants globally, it’s especially valuable for those selling physical goods. As a no-cost, value-add service, Package Tracking is a smart tool for merchants looking to build trust, increase visibility, and improve the post-purchase journey.
